Graduate Work

University of Central Florida’s Digital Media: Games and Interactive Media MA

In addition to providing students with an extensive background into the history and practices of visual and digital content, UCF’s digital media program has also afforded me the opportunity to experience content creation and editing through WordPress, Adobe Creative Suites, and basic coding to allow me to customize the appearance of online content. The courses rely heavily on outside academic research and theory to create a holistic approach to digital media and interactive content. Through these courses, I have been able to create multiple interactive works including games and embodied educational content.

Teaching Experience

Time as a Classroom Teacher

My seven years of experience in education as afforded me knowledge of the intricacies of the education system. It has also made me sensitive to the failings that traditional education has for many students and the awareness that these systems consistently fail underrepresented students. I believe that classrooms would greatly benefit from interactive works for both teachers and students and that interactive games and media afford opportunities for student enjoy their time in the classroom with content that is tailored to and adjusts to them. Interactivity can instill wonder and inspiration in students and that inspiration can lead to lifelong learners.

Japan

Work and Experience in Japan

My experience includes teaching in a language and drama school in Japan which has allowed me to become comfortable with change. I was given the opportunity to see how education works in other countries and how cultural norms and learning types affect education. This experience also allowed me to become comfortable operating within the high standards of Japanese customer service and I have continued to hold myself to such standards.
